Designing your Home with Laminate Flooring 2
You may also wish to do something creative with your
floor, while at the same time keeping with the neutral color. You could
install the floor on the diagonal, rather than on the straight. This
will make the floor a central part of the room and give it a spacious
look. However, if you choose to
install your floor in this way it will cost you 15% to 20% more to do
so. It will also take more time to install the floor in this manner. But
you will probably be very pleased with the result as it will give you a
distinctive
look over that of a customary straight installation.
Many people believe they should choose flooring that will match their
cabinets. It is actually better to coordinate or even contrast your
cabinets and flooring. In most situations, it would be difficult to
match real wood cabinets with a laminate design. It is much better to
coordinate or contrast the look of your cabinets with your floor, rather
than to try and match it. You will achieve a nice look if you contrast
the texture and color of your floor with that of your cabinets.
There are many things you can do to achieve a different look to your
floor. One example is to use more than one pattern. In the kitchen, you
could use contrasting colors of tile to create a checkerboard design; or
you may use a wood pattern with a tile insert for a very unique look. If
you use different patterns together in a large area, it will break up a
normally dull, monotonous area and create a cozy, comfortable
environment.
If you have neutral furnishings, you can liven up your area by creating
a colorful floor space; or if you have a neutral floor, you can spice up
your living space with colorful furnishings. In either situation, you
can have a floor that suits your needs and will bring life into your
room.
